I met a woman named Mei-Lin several years ago at a conference for Families who adopt Chinese Children where she was Storytelling. I had many different Asian dolls for sale that day. Mei-Lin is a Chinese-American woman who would like to become a professional Storyteller. "If through stories I tell, I can bring some light, or joy, or caring, or goodness into the world, then," she says, "I will have accomplished something worthwhile." Our Mei-Lin Doll is named after this special woman who always has a story in her heart.
She recommends these tales to tell to little ones: Everyone knows what a Dragon Looks Like, written by Jay Williams, Liang and the Magic Paintbrush, retold by Demi, Yeh Shen (Chinese Cinderella) by Ai-Ling Louie and Lon Po Po (Chinese Little Red Riding Hood) by Ed Young.
